Little Giant DuraFork Plastic Outdoor Lawn and Garden Bedding Fork
Plastic bedding fork with a 15-inch head on a 52-inch hardwood handle, tines angled to lift manure cleanly with less spilling.
Details
The DuraFork pairs a moulded plastic head, 13.125 inches deep by 15.125 inches wide, with a hardwood handle 52 inches long and just over an inch thick, secured by a nylon locknut. The tines are angled rather than straight, and that is the point of the design: manure lifts and stays on the fork instead of rolling off the front. A plastic head is the right call for bedding work. Steel tines are heavier than they need to be for shavings and straw, they bend when they catch a mat edge or a frozen clump, and they will gouge a rubber stall mat. Plastic is lighter through a long session of stalls and easier on the floor, and the wide head moves more bedding per pass, which shortens the job. At 52 inches the hardwood handle is full length, so you work upright rather than stooped, and the locknut means a broken head can be replaced without scrapping the handle. Keep it out of the sun when it is not in use, since UV is harder on any plastic tool than the work is, and do not use it as a pry bar on frozen bedding.
