Econ mercury thermometer fahrenheit & celsius
A veterinary thermometer in a pen-sized plastic case with a screw-on cap, marked in both Fahrenheit and Celsius.
Details
A thermometer is the cheapest diagnostic you own, and often the first thing that tells you whether an animal is genuinely sick or just off its feed. This one is a straightforward glass instrument marked in both Fahrenheit and Celsius, so it reads the same regardless of which scale your vet works in or how old the notes in your calving book are. It comes in a rigid pen-sized case with a screw-on cap, which is the part that matters if it is going to live in a coat pocket or a vet box that gets thrown around the back of a truck. The case also carries a printed list of baseline temperatures for cattle, horses, sheep, pigs and dogs, so you are not digging for a reference with cold hands. Put a string or a clip on it, because a thermometer set down in bedding is a thermometer gone. Clean and disinfect it between animals, let it come back down before the next reading, and always return it to the case. Glass and frozen ground do not get along. Anything unusual in the reading belongs in a call to your veterinarian.
