Replacement O-Ring for nylon syringe 20ml
Replacement plunger O-ring for the 20ml nylon syringe, sized specifically to that barrel.
Details
When a nylon syringe stops holding a vacuum, it is almost never the barrel that has failed. It is the plunger O-ring, and replacing it costs a dollar instead of the price of a new syringe. The signs are consistent: the plunger feels loose or sloppy, product seeps past it when you push, or the plunger drifts back on its own instead of holding where you left it. Any of those means the seal has flattened or nicked. This ring is sized for the 20ml barrel. The sizes are not interchangeable between syringe capacities, so identify the syringe first. A ring that is slightly too small binds and tears; one slightly too large will not seal at all. Fitting is toolless. Withdraw the plunger, roll the old ring off the groove, roll the new one on, and wet it with clean water so it seats without pinching as you reassemble. Keep oil and grease away from anything that touches vaccine or injectable product. While you have it apart, wash the barrel in hot water only. Soap and disinfectant residue is the most common reason a modified live vaccine does nothing at all. Store the syringe in pieces over the winter so the new ring is not sitting compressed for six months.
