A hundred number 12 blades, sealed sterile, for a number 3 handle. The 12 is a crescent with the edge on the inside of the hook, so it cuts on the pull rather than the push, and that makes it a specialist rather than a general blade. Its uses are the ones where you need to get under something and cut outward. Lifting and dividing a suture without nicking the skin underneath, opening a tract or a fistula from the inside, working into a narrow space where a straight edge will not sit. The hook grabs what you intend to cut and the enclosed edge points away from whatever is behind it. If you are stocking blades for general farm use, this is the third box to buy, not the first. Number 10 for skin and number 11 for lancing will cover most of what comes up; buy 12s when a specific job has already told you that you need them. They fit a number 3 handle only, not a number 4. Mount and strip them with a needle driver or pliers rather than fingers, since the hooked shape is awkward to hold, and always pull the blade away from your hand. Used blades go in a sharps container. Anything you are not sure about cutting is a conversation with your veterinarian first.
