A balling gun puts a bolus past the point where an animal can spit it back out, without you putting your arm in far enough to get bitten. The small size suits calves, sheep and goats. This is the plastic version at four dollars, which is an honest trade rather than a compromise. It will not last like stainless and at this price it does not need to. Most people treat it as a consumable and replace it when the plunger goes sloppy. Check the head before each use. A cracked plastic head develops a sharp edge, and a sharp edge at the back of a throat is a real injury rather than an inconvenience. Cracked means finished, not one more animal. What goes in it is between you, the label and your veterinarian. A bolus formulated for mature cattle is not something to be putting down a lamb, and dosing is not our department.
