Obstetrical saw wire is fetotomy equipment. It is used to cut a dead calf into pieces that can be removed from a cow when the alternative is losing the cow as well. Nobody buys this hoping to use it. The thirty nine foot roll makes sense if you want to make up your own working lengths, or if you are equipping more than one kit. Wire is single use in practice, because a length that has been through a cut is kinked and work hardened, and one that breaks partway through turns a bad situation into a far worse one. Store it dry and coiled rather than folded. Rusted or kinked saw wire snaps. Here is the direct version. Fetotomy is a veterinary procedure. Use this wire only if you have been trained in the procedure. If you keep this in the kit because you are hours from a veterinarian, get them to show you the technique on a dead calf before the night you need it.
