Cattle Boss Obstetric chain 76cm (30") length
Thirty inch obstetric chain, the short one, for a single loop where you do not need extra reach.
Details
Thirty inches is the short chain. Enough for a placement above the fetlock and a hand on the other end, which covers a lot of straightforward assists where all you want is controlled traction on one leg. Chain gets used instead of rope for reasons that become obvious the first time you try both. It holds on a wet leg without slipping, it spreads pressure across a band rather than a line when it is placed properly, and it actually cleans afterward, which rope never really does. Boil it or run it through disinfectant between calvings and hang it to dry. A chain that lives in the bottom of a wet bucket carries whatever came out of the last cow into the next one. Placement is the thing. Chain above the fetlock with a half hitch below it, not one loop cinched onto a joint. If nobody has shown you how to set one properly, learn it before calving rather than at two in the morning, and when a calf is not coming with steady traction, that is a call to your veterinarian.
