Cattle Boss Obstetric chain 114cm (45") length
Forty five inch obstetric chain, the middle length, and the one most people reach for first.
Details
Forty five inches is the length that does most of the work. Long enough to double back for a proper placement above and below the fetlock, long enough to take both legs if you need to, and still short enough to handle without becoming a tangle in the dark. If you are buying one chain, this is usually it. The thirty inch is a single leg tool and the sixty is for when you want real reach, but the forty five covers the common ground on most operations. Clean and disinfect after every use and hang it up to dry. Being genuinely sterilisable is the one clear advantage chain holds over rope, and it is completely wasted if the chain goes back in the bucket wet. Placement matters more than length. Above the fetlock with a half hitch below spreads load across the leg instead of concentrating it on a joint. And the moment a pull stops progressing under steady, reasonable traction, the answer is your veterinarian rather than a second person on the chain.
