Fifty millilitres is for the jobs where smaller barrels turn into a series of interruptions: high-volume injectables, mature bulls and cows at the upper end of a dose range, or repeated large doses where refilling every animal costs you real time. The dosing nut sets the plunger travel so the volume is repeatable, which matters more at this size, not less. Reading a fifty millilitre barrel accurately while an animal moves is not realistic; a set stop is. Verify the setting against the graduations before you start and check it again if the syringe has been rattling around in a truck. Be realistic about the trade-offs. A barrel this size is slower to fill and harder to push, it is noticeably less accurate for anything under about ten millilitres, and almost every product label caps how much goes into a single injection site. A large total dose is meant to be divided across sites, not driven into one spot, and doing it wrong leaves a lesion that shows up at slaughter. Nylon takes the abuse that glass will not. Wash in hot water only, since soap and disinfectant residue inactivates modified live vaccine. Dismantle to dry, and replace the O-ring when the plunger loosens.
