Thirty millilitres is a working compromise. It holds enough for the larger-volume injectables and for treating grown cattle at the higher end of a dose range, without being as unwieldy as a fifty or a hundred. If you keep hitting the stop on a twenty before the dose is delivered, this is the next barrel up. The dosing nut locks the plunger travel so every draw is identical. That is what turns a syringe into a tool for doing a group of animals rather than one at a time, and it is worth checking the setting against the graduations at the start of every session in case it has moved in transit. Two honest limitations with a barrel this size. Small doses are less accurate in it than in a ten, so it is not a replacement for a smaller syringe. And most product labels limit how much can go into one site, so a thirty millilitre total dose usually needs splitting across two or more sites rather than going in as one lump. Nylon survives being dropped and stepped on and washes up for next year. Hot water only, because soap or disinfectant residue will inactivate a modified live vaccine. Take it apart to dry and replace the O-ring once the plunger feels loose. Dose, route, site and volume per site come from the label or your veterinarian.
