The 24 is the heaviest blade in the large curved range, with a deeper curve and more mass than a 20, 21 or 22. Ten to the box, each blade moulded to its own handle and sealed sterile, so nothing gets mounted and nothing gets cleaned. That deep curve means the edge presents at a steeper angle, which is useful when you are cutting into something rather than along it, and the extra thickness means it will not flex when you commit real force. On tough mature hide, thick abscess walls, or anywhere you have been fighting a lighter blade, this is the one that stops the fight. The flip side is that a heavy deep-curved blade is less precise. It is a poor choice for fine or shallow work, and on smaller animals it is simply too much blade. For anything delicate, use a small number 10 instead. Confirm the sleeve is intact before opening, and put the whole unit into a sharps container afterward. A blade this heavy does not forgive a badly restrained animal, so get the restraint, the clean prep and the pain control right first. If the job is bigger than what you have been shown how to handle, phone your veterinarian before you start rather than partway through.
