Details
The PRO Bander is the heavier tool in the Callicrate line, intended for larger animals where a light bander does not have the leverage. It applies a rubber loop under high tension and holds it with a clip, and the tension indicators let you see what you are actually applying rather than guessing by feel. The kit ships with the bander and a supply of loops. Callicrate lists cattle from roughly 300 lb up to full grown, along with sheep and goats, and the same tool is used for horn work. What is appropriate on your operation, at what stage and by whom, is a conversation for your veterinarian. The Codes of Practice for the Care and Handling of Beef Cattle set the expectations in Canada, and that is worth settling before the tool comes out of the box. Care is straightforward. Keep it clean, keep grit out of the mechanism, and store it dry rather than leaving it in a wet processing shed over winter. Loops and pull straps are consumables and get replaced as they are used. Wear eye protection, as the manufacturer directs.
