The Henke-Roux is a syringe people keep for twenty years, and the barrel is nearly always the part that goes first. It gets dropped on the concrete, or it cracks when a cold barrel meets hot rinse water, and a working instrument becomes a paperweight over a part worth a few dollars. This is the 50 cc barrel in plastic rather than glass, sold as a service part for the pistol-grip revolver syringe. The dosage wheel, the frame and the piston all carry on as they were; you fit the new barrel and go back to work. Plastic survives a fall that would finish a glass barrel, which is the main reason to choose it. Glass reads a little clearer and takes harsher cleaning, while plastic prefers warm water over boiling and does not love strong solvents. Pick whichever matches how your syringe actually gets treated in the barn. Check the rubber piston while you have it apart. A syringe that leaks or will not hold a dose is often the piston rather than the barrel, and the two are cheap enough to replace together. Order for the 50 cc size specifically — the 10 and 30 cc barrels are different parts.
