Setting a dose by eye off the graduations on a disposable syringe works fine for one animal and badly for eighty. Somewhere in the middle of the run the doses drift, and you are either short-dosing stock or emptying bottles faster than the label says you should. A dial takes the guesswork out. The adjuster gives ten fixed settings from 0.5 mL to 5 mL in half-millilitre steps, and the barrel holds 50 mL, so you set it once and work through the pen. That barrel is a BPA-free, chemical- and scratch-resistant material, amber tinted to shade the contents from light, with large numerals that stay readable in a dusty chute. It ships with four interchangeable coloured knob inserts. If you run two or three syringes on the same table, colour-coding them is the cheapest way to avoid putting the wrong product into the wrong animal. Rinse it out thoroughly with warm water as soon as you are finished, particularly after oily products, and do not leave product sitting in the barrel between days. Replacement barrels are sold separately, which is the reason a repeater like this outlives a drawer full of disposables.
