Dogs that live outside through an Alberta winter burn energy just staying warm, before you count anything they actually do in a day. This is the Supreme range's answer to that — more protein and fat than the standard maintenance formulas carry, in a bag sized for feeding more than one dog. Poultry by-product meal is the first ingredient, with fish meal and soybean meal contributing further protein, over whole grain ground corn, wheat middlings and whole grain ground wheat. Poultry fat, beet pulp, flax seeds, brewers yeast and yeast culture are also on the panel. It is formulated for all life stages rather than adults only. The bag holds 18.1 kg (40 lb). Outdoor dogs generally take noticeably more food in January than in June, and the feeding guide accounts for activity but not for weather, so watch the dog as well as the panel. Your veterinarian can help you judge whether an animal is holding condition through a hard season. Keep it sealed and off cold concrete, where condensation forms against the inside of a bag. If you feed outside, put down what gets eaten rather than leaving a full dish standing — food left in a bowl in the yard draws every other animal on the place.
