This is the recipe in the Tuffy's Gold dry line that leaves out corn, wheat and soy. People come to it when they want a different meat and a different grain from the chicken-and-corn formulas that make up most of the range, without moving all the way to a grain-free food. Lamb meal is the first ingredient. The carbohydrate side is brewers rice, brown rice, barley and oatmeal, with rice bran further down, and fish meal and poultry by-product meal also contribute protein. Flax seed and beet pulp are in the mix, and the fat is naturally preserved rather than treated with BHA. Worth being clear that this is not a grain-free formula — it simply uses rice, barley and oats in place of corn and wheat. The bag holds 18.1 kg (40 lb). Amounts are printed on the back panel and depend on weight and activity. If you are moving a dog onto a new protein, do it gradually across a week or so, and involve your veterinarian in the decision rather than making it alone. Store it sealed and cool. An unheated porch is fine in winter, but a spot that swings between warm and cold will draw moisture into the food, so a consistent place beats a convenient one.
