Padding that will not stay where you put it turns a short job into a wrestling match. Loose felt slides the moment the horse shifts its weight, and you are starting the wrap over again with a hand you don't have free. This is flexible felt with an adhesive backing, supplied as a strip seven inches wide and a yard long. It is plain padding with nothing medicated in it, which is why it sits under a liniment, a poultice or a standing bandage without changing whatever is already on the leg. Cut it with ordinary scissors to the shape the job asks for, a small patch over one spot or a full-width band that follows the cannon. Peel the backing, press it onto clean dry hair, and it holds its own position while you get the wrap started. A yard goes a long way when you are only cutting what the injury needs. Keep the roll somewhere dry and closed. The adhesive side collects dust and chaff in an open tack box, and once it is dirty it will not grip properly on the next application. Take the used piece off with the bandage at each change rather than leaving it on the leg between wraps.
