Aluspray sprays a fine aluminium film onto a wound. The film is breathable but physically covers the surface, which does three things people value on a working farm: it keeps flies and dirt off, it protects the wound as it dries, and — because the coating is a visible silver-grey — you can see at a glance which cuts you have treated and where they are on a dark-coloured animal. It is used across species on superficial wounds, grazes, and sites after minor procedures. It sticks well to a dry surface and does not need bandaging, which is its main advantage in a pen or a pasture where a bandage would be off within an hour. Cleaning comes first, always. Spraying a coating over dirt, hair, manure or dead tissue seals the contamination in and makes things worse. Clean the wound properly, let the surface dry, then apply from the distance the label specifies in a light even coat. A heavy coat cracks and lifts. Know what it is not for. Do not use it on deep punctures, on anything that needs to drain, on heavily contaminated wounds, on large open injuries, or on burns. Sealing a wound that needs to drain is how an abscess forms. Any wound that is deep, gaping, near a joint, bleeding significantly, or involves an eye needs a veterinarian, and some need stitching within hours to heal properly. Read the label for species, sites and any withdrawal statement for food animals. Shake well, avoid eyes and inhalation, and keep the can away from heat and flame.
